The concept of Installing the Microsoft Windows Vista is the same of Windows XP installation. How many ways to install Windows Vista? There are two methods on how to perform the installation: Upgrading from Windows XP: If you have a Windows XP system installed on your machine you can upgrade it to Windows Vista and to do that you have to run the installation process from inside the Windows XP environments. The benefits of this method is you will have no lose for any of your existing files and programs that were running on Windows XP, and all the old configurations will remain the same. Installing new fresh copy on your machine: This method requires you to run the installation directly once you restart your computer (means from outside the Windows XP environments) as you will see in the tutorial video below that when we reach the stage of choosing which method of installation we may follow, the upgrade option is disabled because we ran the installation from the boot. In this case it's better to format the Hard Disk partition which is saving the Windows files. (you will see that on this video as well). Precautions before Installing Microsoft Windows Vista: Important Files Backup Normally the Partition where the Windows installed previously (like C: partition) will be formatted, so its better to backup all your files on that drive represented by the files on the Desktop,My Documents folder, My breif case folder,C partition root files ... etc. Prepare the Drivers CD Before installing Microsoft Windows Vista on your (PC/Laptop), you have to prepare the Drivers CD priorly, if you don't have the Drivers CD don't format the existing Windows without providing at least the network card driver so you can download all the drivers from the Internet. In case you don't have any drivers for your (PC/Laptop) peripherals, try to download them from the internet using another computer from the original product's website (don't download any driver from other websites rather than the original website of the product). You can also extract all the drivers from the existing Windows before formatting it by using special tools designed for this regard. Note: Some of the Computer's drivers are included within the Windows Vista files, or it will be downloaded from the internet after installing the Windwos Vista like my case, so I will not show you how to install the Windows Vista drivers but instead you can follow the Windows XP drivers installation which is exactly the same method of Windows Vista. Setting the CD/DVD drive as the first bootable drive Before starting with the installation you have to set the CD/DVD drive to be as the first bootable drive in order to start booting the computer from the Windows CD/DVD instead of the Hard Drive. How to do that? First, restart your computer and once it reaches the very begining black window start pressing the F2 (or F12 it depends on your mother board type) till you enter to the boot menu as shown below. Boot Menu Then by using the arrow keys and (+)/(-) signs on the key board you can select the CD/DVD drive to be the first bootable one as shown below.
