What are the types of Laptop batteries?
There are three types which described below:
- Nickel Cadmium (NiCd):
This type of batteries were the first to be used for the laptops and notepads , they where low in cost and provide high outputs but they are not being used any more these days because of their heavy weight and inefficiency comparing with the newer types as described below.
- Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH): This is the most reliable and has higher output than the NICd ones and even safer to use; this type of batteries still can be found but used with old types of Laptops.
- Lithium-ion (Li-iON): This is the best battery type you need to have and use in your laptop; it has a lot of advantages unlike the NiMH and NiCd types as it has a light weight, more powerful, more reliable and more environmentally friendly comparing with the other types. Also it has enhanced features like it doesn’t have the Memory Effect feature and a slow loss of charge when not in use.
How can I identify which type my own laptop battery is?
It’s so easy just remove the battery from the laptop and read the information on its back as shown in the below pictures.
