In this page I have collected all the definisions in this site in case you want to search for a spesific word meaning, or easily you can use the search this site field.

Bad Sector: A sector on a computer's Hard Disk that cannot be used due to permanent damage, such as physical damage.

CRC: The CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Error) is a technique used for error detection in data communications. The technique gained its popularity because it combines three advantages:

  1. Extreme error detection capabilities.
  2. Little overhead.
  3. Ease of implementation.

Parity bits:Parity bits are used as a form of error checking during the information transmission.

Crack files:Are illegal files to activate the shareware or trial software and uses them in illegal way as a registered versions.Normally those files prepared by people called them selves Crackers.

Driver: Is software that has to be installed within your System to tell the Windows on how to deal with the Hardware peripherals.  Normally every peripheral has its own driver included in a CD comes with the package when purchased.

Spyware and malware:An unwanted files that have many side effects that mainly comes from the Internet, they come in different ways and behaviors like recording your personal information, slow down your system, steal passwords, credit card numbers and the like, slow down your computer etc.

DMA: Direct Memory Access, a useful method for transferring the data between Medias without processing them by the CPU.

Registry Files: Is a centralized data structure that Windows programs, including the Windows itself, use to store configuration data.

Kernel: (ntoskrnl.exe, part of the core of the XP OS).

Processor Scheduling: The Micro Processor gives a priority level to different processes running on the machine. When two processes are requesting service at the same time, the processor performs the jobs for the one with the higher priority.

CPU: Central Processing Unit, containing the logic circuitry that performs the instructions of a computer's programs.

RAM: Random Access Memory, a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly, any application or program uses the RAM temporarily to complete their execution.

Windows indexing service: Is an operating system level service that maintains an index of most of the files on a computer and updates them without user intervention in order to help the Windows search engine to perform faster search.

Driver: Is software that has to be installed within your System to tell the Windows on how to deal with the Hardware peripherals.  Normally every peripheral has its own driver included in a CD comes with the package when purchased.

Page file: Also called Swap file, is the file that transmitting into the Hard Disk instead of RAM when there is no space into the physical RAM, and this is what we call it the Virtual Memory implementation.

Bad Sector: A sector on a computer's Hard Disk that cannot be used due to permanent damage, such as physical damage.

Defragmentation: A process that reduces the amount of fragmentation in file systems. And it does this by physically organizing the contents of the disk to store the pieces of each file close together

SDR RAM

SDR: Single Data Rate SDRAM ,a RAM that can accept one command and transfer one word of data per clock cycle which is compatible with old types of Mother boards, it is working synchronously with the CPU signals, it comes with 168-pin interface and two notches.

DDR1

DDR: Dual Data Rate, sometimes they name it as DDR1, it reads or writes two words of data per clock cycle,it comes with 184-pin interface and one notch.

DDR2 RAM

DDR2: Very similar to DDR RAM type, but doubles the minimum read or write unit again to 4 consecutive words of data per clock cycle,it comes with 240-pin interface and one notch.

DDR3 RAMDDR3: Very similar to DDR2 RAM type, but doubles the minimum read or write unit again to 8 consecutive words of data per clock cycle, it comes with 240-pin interface and one notch.

IDE cableIDE: Integrated Drive Electronics, also known as ATA-1 (Advanced Technology Attachment) which is a type of disk drive that integrates the drive controller directly on the drive itself, uses a cable called IDE cable which normaly supports two interfaces that used with Hard Drives or CD/DVD ROM drives to be connected to the Mother Board.
